British dental health?

Saturday, December 4, 2010

I don't mean to offend anyone, but is the british dental care as bad as it is stereotyped? I mean, I watch a decent amount of British television/movies, and I do notice some bad teeth. (again, I don't mean to offend anyone). So, personally, as Brits, is this accurate? I'm just wondering what type of dental care you have available to you, and if it's the same as America's (U.S.)? Please tell me as much as you can. Thank you.

I'm a dental professional in the US, but what I've learned is in Europe in general, dental care isn't among the most important. I know that some Europeans do not know what toothpaste is, or it's use. I've watched documentaries about Britain's worst teeth, of a woman who had an intense fear of the dentist and had a hardened plaque build up on the mandibular anterior incisors on the lingual side that had to be chipped off. oh by the way that means the lower front teeth on the side closest to the tongue. Insane.
