Scenario -- my 3yo daughter was scheduled to go under general anesthesia today to have some routine dental work done (some fillings, a crown a few caps and some sealant). When they came out after doing the xray, they informed me they had to take out her 2 FRONT TEETH!! I was devastated!! It was the only option, they could not be fixed or they would have absessed in a few months. She is FINE, could pretty much care less that they are gone, is happy she gets to eat ice cream and pudding and jello and she looks so darn CUTE!!! However, I was just sick to my stomach when they told me... how would you feel if you got this kind of news and had to have it done right away?
--------------------
well i've been there!! sometimes baby teeth are just bad teeth! and sometimes it can be all in the genetics!! my son was a little older when he had to have his 2 front teeth removed. we went in to have the caps put back on and then bang!, the dentist said if we didn't go ahead and take them out, that they would not only abscess but could also cause the permanent teeth to rot as well...i'm like you. the first time he got a tooth we were brushing it like crazy...lol... and he very seldom got any sweets so it was a real blow to hear that they had to be removed...like maybe i didn't do a good enough job (or that's how i felt anyway). now 6 yrs old is a little older but you have to realize that they may not grow in until he's 8 or 9 yrs old. so i feel you...but you did the right thing. and yes!! aren't they just sooooo cute!! my son has the cutest little lisp now because he can't say the "th" sound very well... :) just know that the 2 teeth that grow in will be healthy and pretty...
