Dental care on the NHS?

I am 20 and I am wondering if you can still get free dental care on the nhs and how much would it be if you coudnt?? like for a routine check up, i havnt been for nearly 4 years now adn i am just wondering how can i get back on track with going? it use to be free wen i was younger but im guessing it wouldnt be liek this now! nothing is wrong with my teeth i jsut want a regular clean and how much would i have to pay! my boyfriend hasnt been for a LONG long time, he is 20 also and he has serioud cavity and 2 bad teeth in the back of his mouth would he be waiting long to get this fixed on the NHS? and if not how much would it cost him to get them extracted or to get it fixed? when we phone up places they say they are not tking on patients at the moment whats with that? anwyay thanks

Because the dentists you are ringing are probably private, they can pick and chose who they want to take, that's probably why they aren't taking any more people on, they may have enough to deal with. You won't be able to get on the NHS unless you get some sort of cover with your work or you are on government benefits so you'll have to pay unfortunately >.< Because the NHS are almost certainly full, but you never know you may find one! I think to get a filling is about 20 pound and to get a tooth out would be around 50 although I'm not too sure. A clean should be the same as a filling. You just have to look around and see who will take you on because their prices are different. Good luck with finding a dentist =)
