Has anyone used a dentistry school for their dental care?

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

I'm thinking about enrolling in my university's dentistry school's public clinic (where student dentists get to practice on people, basically.) I've heard these kinds of set ups are good quality work for relatively cheap, but has anyone actually used these services and what, generally, are the fees like? (I live in the Northeast US, though I'd imagine most of the US would be similar.)

In Grade school, I did and because we were low income I didn't have to pay a cent. I can afford my dental work now, we have insurance, and I was gonna take my parents there, but there's a long line and it would have taken much longer to get in (each visit), lots of waiting around, so we decided to just go to a regular dentist. We were going to Gentle Dental (done by students, found out 3 years later - but it's not the same as Dentistry school), and I found out they've not done a thorough job cleaning, when I went to another dentist by my house. They showed me digital photos of my teeth!
