Shih tzu: dental care?

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Since shih tzu tend to have dental problems, what should I do for preventative care? I do plan on using doggie toothpaste and a finger brush, but how often should I do this? Any other suggestions?

at least once a week... preferably 3-4 times a week... get some greenies or something too that they can chew on too to slow plaque build up... also idk what u feed it but dry food is best to prevent plaque and tartar build up because it scraps the teeth as the chew... also i would get a dental cleaning at least once a year to twice a year to prevent having to spend a lot later down the road... i know this is a lot... you can pick and choose what u want to do... the most practical things are the brushing and feeding dry food... the dentals can get pricey...
