what's the policy on dental care in australia?

Saturday, November 6, 2010

I think I need a wisdom tooth taken out and I'm pretty sure it's going to cost heaps of money. I have a Health Care Card etc. and I'm a low income earner. Does the government help to cover costs at all? How much is it going to cost me around about?

Dentistry is considered a luxury (like plastic surgery) so its only covered if you have private health insurance. If you are talking about a child, and you (the parent) are on a pension, I think the child can have basic dental treatment but not as the adult.
