Green Giant - Review & Giveaway!

And the winner is...#14 Angie. Congrats to you! I've sent you an email.

HAPPY EARTH DAY!

I'm trying to buy more organic fruits and vegetables, but it's been a slow process. While keeping the food budget low (I still go over almost every week!), the only frozen produce I buy is on close-out or is an amazing sale, such as BOGO. Add to that the fact that health food stores are 30 minutes or more away from me, so the organic options close to home are rather slim. When organic isn't an option, I typically turn to Green Giant. When MyBlogSpark asked me to review and giveaway the "Seeds of Change" prize pack, I was stoked!

I'll admit to not knowing much about where my food comes from. I don't know anything about Green Giant growing practices except what is listed on their Sustainability page. With that disclaimer noted, let's move on to the good stuff...

My absolute favorite products from Green Giant are the Steamers! They are bags of frozen veggies that are meant to be steamed in the microwave, but I've used them in stir frys and casseroles as well. They're such an easy way to get more vegetables in your family's diet. The broccoli ranks at the top for me. They don't end up too mushy like a lot of cooked broccoli does. And when there's a coupon (get .50 here), I've gotten these for free or super cheap with a good sale.

In honor of Earth Day, Green Giant is giving $200,000 to the Nature Conservancy to encourage greener farming practices that will repair and protect the Root River - one of Minnesota's best trout streams. Other ways Green Giant says they are moving towards greener practices are by doing the following:
--Switching to more earth-friendly paperboard to package frozen vegetables
--Teaming up with growers to install a more efficient irrigation system
--Packaging vegetables in smaller, lighter cans so it takes less fuel to transport them

The prize pack contains a VIP coupon for a FREE Green Giant frozen vegetable, a mini herb garden (with parsley, chives, and basil), an eco-friendly bamboo utensil set (spoon, slotted spoon, and spatula), and a reusable green grocery bag. One pack was given to me and one more is up for grabs!

The tote is a little smaller than many of the other reusable bags I have, but it feels durable and is still a nice size. I just planted my vegetable garden, and the mini herb garden will make a nice addition to it. I haven't gotten to try out the bamboo utensils yet, but I've crossed a wooden spoon off my shopping list now. I had been meaning to buy myself one for a long time...

Now how do you win the prize pack?!
Simply leave a comment telling what changes you are making or plan to make for a "greener" lifestyle. Please include your email address so I'll have a way to contact you. Deadline to enter is Wednesday, April 28, and a winner will be chosen by a random number generator.

Note: The prize packs (one for me, one for you) and information have been provided by Green Giant through MyBlogSpark. No other compensation was given, and opinions mentioned are soley mine.
