Is Universal Health Care in United States needed, or just another Socialist ideal?

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

Universal health care is health care coverage for all eligible residents of a political region and often covers medical, dental and mental health care. Universal health care is implemented in all but one of the wealthy, industrialized countries, with the exception being the United States.
--------------------
Just another socialist idea. It is well know that this plan of overhauling the health care system will not only drastically alter the way the American economy works - but there is NO WAY to pay for it other than taking money from those that have and simply giving it to those that HAVE NOT. This is Obama's plan in a nutshell - his "redistribution of income" philosophy. The only way to pay for this plan which will add upwards of $2 Trillion to the national deficit is to tax you and me to death - everything we do, buy, think or want to achieve will be taxed - the Obama government will only go after the taxpayers because we are the ones with the money - we are the ones that produce the money. The nationalized health care plan is also a big payback program for those who helped elect Obama - especially GE - who is set to get the anticipated multi billion dollar contract for the new national medical records system - which Obama probably already verbally promised them IF he could push through his power grabbing plan GE of course also owns NBC, MSNBC and CNBC - whom Obama loves and they of course love Obama. Remember, Obama wants the American public to only make a certain amount of money - this is why he has appointed "compensation czars" - who will be sure private citizens do not make above a certain amount of money - and if you do they will severely tax you - sounds like something you would only read in Russia or Cuba or Venezuela - but now - America. o_O

Why are dental hygiene standards so much higher in America than in Britain?

Americans seem to care much more about dental hygiene than the British do. Everyone I know goes to the dentist regularly, has had orthodontic braces at some point, and generally take care of their teeth. Are the stereotypes about "British teeth" true or is this some sort of myth perpetuated by the American media? *One of the most famous episodes of "The Simpsons" was the one where Lisa goes to the orthodontist and he scares her with the "Big Book of British Teeth"!
--------------------
This is a very old stereotype... it's like saying all Americans are fat, which in truth they are not. Similar to what you said everyone I know goes the dentist regularly, almost every teenager that requires braces and retainers get them for free. Dental hygiene is much better than it used to be and more people have the option to have things like braces nowadays.

Is Universal Health Care in United States needed, or just another Socialist ideal?

Universal health care is health care coverage for all eligible residents of a political region and often covers medical, dental and mental health care.Universal health care is implemented in all but one of the wealthy, industrialized countries, with the exception being the United States.
--------------------
Universal healthcare is not needed, nor is it being offerred. And for the record, it is also illegal. Roe v. Wade made it illegal. If the government cannot take over women's bodies (as banned by Roe v. Wade), then by the law of equality it cannot take over men's bodies either. But what Obama is offering is not Universal Health Care. It is not Nationalized Health Care. And whether you like Obama's plan or not (it is difficult to tell by your post whether you do or not), we need something changed. We constantly spend millions and billions of dollars trying to make up for the shortfall we keep getting in the private sector health insurance system. 53 million are not covered at all, even more are denied coverage at the time they need it because the health insurance companies don't want to pay. Not to attack them, because they are doing the logical thing. They are a business, and they only make money if they don't constantly pay it out to cover so many health costs. But the point is, even if their move is a logical one, it still leaves those who THOUGHT they were covered without a way to pay their healthcare costs. And those costs get passed on to the rest of us through higher costs for labs and tests and procedures, and the rest is passed on to the government anyway. We need to change quite a bit to deal with these flaws, before they take down the system. Whether it be Obama's plan or someone else's, status quo is no longer working.

What is your opinion on how I should take care of dental hygeine?

Please do not mention the dentist, I've had two fillings in 1999, dental surgery to remove two molars that were growing inward in 2000, although I was under 18 then and haven't looked back since. I don't want go back before I know I have to from pain, I know, my mothers already told me that's worse, but what can you do. Remember that your opinion is what you actually do, so don't think up something all fancy, please include the types and brands that you use without going into much detail, just typing this question has exhausted me, and I'm like that with reading. Thank you

I brush (soft Reach) morning and night, floss (waxed Oral-B) at night after brushing, and use mouthwash (Listerine) morning and night after the brushing and/or flossing.

Relatives of 90-year-old Charles Gaal Jr. recently filed the suit in circuit court accusing Dr. Wesley Meyers of negligence. An answering message at Meyers' office in Winter Park said Saturday that he was on vacation. He did not reply to a message from The Associated Press seeking comment. The lawsuit says the doctor dropped an "implant screwdriver tool" in 2006 and a "mini-wrench" in 2007." Skewered on your own sword, lady: 2006 and 2007 = Bush-time. NEXT !!!! .

When will people in the USA all have health care & will it include dental & eye care?

I would love to live in a country where everyone had a nice smile. Where everyone could see if glasses would improve their eyesight. I have worn glasses since I was about 5 years old & I can not imagine my life without them......Is this all going to come up to be voted on in congress soon or is it waiting in a long line behind many more important things?

What is a care credit loan?

Im looking to get a dental care credit loan, but im not exactly sure what it is and how to go about it. do i need to have a bank account and further more, do i need to have a job?
--------------------
More than likely a job. Its based on your credit...like a credit card but for dental work only. I would strongly encourage you to visit this great site: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now and they have saved me thousands of dollars on all services. From root canals, cleanings, xrays, crowns...etc. All services are included in this very affordable plan. Even orthodontist, cosmetic surgery and dentures are included. They even had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day. hope this helps.

Should i take 5 years or the normal 4 years to get my B.S. before applying to Dental Schools?

My first two years were done at a community college and at the time i was taking the necessary classes for dental hygiene. Now i go to E.W.U. and i want to be a dentist but i have some catch up . I can finish all my necessary classes in 4 years but i'd be grouping alot of harder classes together each quarter and going to summer school. Should i do this and risk lower grades or would dental schools care if i spaced these classes out and took 5 years to get my Bio degree?
--------------------
Your GPA in college will be very important to get into dental school. You need at least a 3.6. And sometimes with the science classes and hours taken, it is hard to do in 4 years. I would say it all depends on the individual and what he or she can handle. Take an extra year if it looks like things will be too heavy and I wish you good luck in your future.

what all will i need to take care of my dental braces?

tools to take care of em,etc.
--------------------
get prepared for a long long answer!! well anyways, i just got braces on thursday and i'll show you how i take care o' mine. first of all, you should've gotten a little ortho kit. if you didn't then the materials you'll need are floss brushes, special toothbrush(meant for braces), mouthwash, and/or special floss. ok well there is a special way to floss but i'm not allowed to do that or gaps will be in between my teeth. so here's how i do. i use the floss brush and pick the food in between the wire and tooth. don't go in between the actual teeth though! then you brush your teeth for at least! 2 minutes (which i don't think thats enough i do mine for like 4 or 5 min lol)anywho, just brush normal but not hard. go sideways not up and down or you'll just ruin the wire. then you use mouthwash! easy as that. but use the mouthwash that will protect against cavities. i hope i helped. but you should get like a dental mirror, and stick it in your mouth and look for little food particles that might be stuck in there. then use the floss brush and brush it"! or get a waterpik, which i never tried before but heard it's great. it's like a floss except made out of water idk? lol. ok well i hope that you or me don't have any cavities because of not flossing. i think that mouthwahs and brushing and floss brush are the solution. do all of that only at night. in the morning just brush and mouthwash. told you this was long, i know i helped!

I feel SO overwhelmed by the dental work in front of me and the cost, that I am considering suicide. I don't

have a dentist. I don't have dental insurance. I have taken excellent care of my teeth, but a combination of an injury and side effects from medication have made a mess in my mouth and I am in pain and do not know where to turn. I wish I lived in a country where health/dental care was provided for. But I don't have the money or the energy and no dentist will help me. For some reason, the only solution that I seem to come up with is to end my life. Does anyone have any other options?
--------------------
well first of all you have to calm down and you have to go to your doctor and explain to him what you are saying here. i am sure that they will help you to deal with this. i think there are many ways to get out of the problem rather than end up with your life. good luck! one thing more a neighbour who was in the same situation as you are now when to do all his dental needs with university students and got a beautiful teeth for free and i am not joking his teeth are absolutely gorgeous now.

what does a dental nurse trainee earn from oasis?

i recently had a interview for a dental nurse trainee and i have been selected to work in Oasis dental care, but im not sure how much they are gonna pay me. so if anyone knows how much does Oasis pays for the dental nurse trainee can you plss let me know cheers in advance..
--------------------
I don't know exactly how much this particular Company pay it's trainee nurses but Im going to guess it's not a great deal! I have been working as a Dental Nurse for many many years and it was a low paid job for trainee nurses back then. It's very unusual for them not to have discussed your hourly rate at the interview, as your new to the job I figure that you will be paid less than the other more experienced/Qualified members of staff! If your concerned ask them exactly how much per hour you will be earning and take it from there but don't look a gift horse in the mouth and feel like you should be getting more or the same as oher staff members!

Im trying to star school soon im very interesting in dental care but i would like to know what to expect in classes will it be difficult
--------------------
Yes, dental hygiene programs are highly competitive and intense. You have to be very committed in order to stick with it and not give up. Just as an example, my best friend's DH class started off with 16 people and by graduation was down to 10. She pretty much had to give up her social life and free time for 2 years while she was in the program. But in the end it's definitely worth it.

Paying for Houses, medical & dental insurance, moving, education, child care, and much more. Why is that?

I have been living in Japan and see a lot of our tax dollars going for some luxury items in the military bases here. Did you know we are giving housing allowances to people who do not want to live on a base? It goes pretty high $1200.00 a month. Why are military people living here in a resort life style, bases have a host of restaurants, private golf courses, private marina, tons of sport activities, cable TV, schools and day care for kids. I always thought of servicemen being lonely overseas, well they are not they have their wholes family with them and living pretty well. You can not find in the private sector benefits like they are getting here. Remember that we are paying for all this with tax dollars. I get to see the military channel on my TV by mistake, and if you could see it I think you would be as shocked as I to see all that is going on here. I am sure this is the case with all the bases all over the world. We should have this all investigated and accounted for by our government, agree?

Why do people get pets that can't afford vet care?

It is totally unfair to the animal. Pets need vet care, including dental. Besides shots and check ups they get ill and they get injured. Pets will need a vet.
--------------------
Its this idea of having what everyone else has got,a status symbol. They also think that once they have a pet, thats it! No long term planning, thought, nothing! We live in an I WANT world! Are they that ignorant, to think that pets do not get sick?Pets will depend on you throughout its life, and with proper care may live 15 years or more. Are they willing and able to care properly for it and provide a stable home for that long? An astonishingly high percentage of pets change owners at least once in their lifetimes, and that does not count those that didn't make it out of the shelter. They get a pet without prior budgeting for vet visits and other costs. Normal veterinary care includes yearly shots and boosters, tests for worms, and examination for typical diseases as needed. This will run into hundreds of pounds or dollars a year. This, of course, depends on your vet and on the health of the pet. Preventive and consistent care is less expensive in the long run. If they cannot afford veterinary care for their pet they should not get one. Do not think that you can get a pet and never see the vet. Annual shots and examinations are a must for keeping your pet healthy; certain vaccinations are required by law in different areas. Other routine costs include pet food, litter pans and scoops, and other pet paraphernalia. You are right,it IS very unfair to the animal indeed. Most people KNOW they cannot afford an animal, they KNOW their financial position,so I say,IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD AN ANIMAL, DON'T GET ONE! VET CARE IS A MUST!!!

follow up on cat dental cost?

My cat is a healthy 5 years old , has been under the care of same vet since I got her.I am 77 years old on social security and would have to charge the cost of the dental care, my vet is aware of this .Is part of a medical group with set charges in a middle class area.
--------------------
Explain your financial situation to the receptionist, ask her to please go ask the vet or vet tech if there is a discount for the elderly on a small fixed income because your cat really needs the dental care (talk a lot of your love for your cat and her health). Most Vets (that I've been to) have money set aside that is donated to them where they will help you out substantially with the cost. They don't advertise this, but many Vet offices do this. (The Vet Tech's do the procedure anyways). They care about your cat, too. Talk pleadingly as opposed to a "not fair" type tone and I think you'll make some gainway(sp?)(word??) lol If not, you may try checking out some other Vets that have this program (it's generally a secret program they never advertise or they'd be overloaded with everyone, including people with lots of money would try to abuse. But you need it - give it a try!! Best of luck to you and your beloved cat!

Why don't people like the health care reform?

I'm not an American and in my country everyone gets health care for free and dental care is almost free too. It's of course funded by tax money. I notice that they don't like it. Why? If everyone will be able to get and afford health care what's bad about that?
--------------------
Cost is a control mechanism, it is a valve if you will, it prevents shortages. Whenever you artificially lower a cost or you lower the cost of something to zero one of two things necessarily happen. 1. There is a shortage or 2. There is rationing. That is the problem

Does The Health Care Bill cover Dental Insurance?

Because i need braces and i do not know how the bill works. If it covers, do i pay for my invisalign (my parents cannot afford it (I'm 17)) Will my dental insurance from the bill pay for it? or it does not cover braces? What do u think.................u dnt have 2 know d full answer...........
--------------------
Um to the guy who answered "get a job and pay for your own braces like most american's do"... Most americans cannot afford decent dental care even if they work full time! Especially single parents with young children! Braces now cost $3,000 to $7,000 PLUS routine care and maintenance (with co-pay) PLUS retainer and maintenance after! ALL OF IT IS EXORBITANTLY PRICED! Dental care is way over priced, and has become such a cliche in our "appearance first" society, it is not right. And for single parents like myself, Medical (or what it used to be before the bill) would only cover pulling out teeth, fillings, and root canals. My friend lost two teeth due to poor nutrition when she was growing up in an abusive home, and her medical would not cover crowns to fill in her teeth... and if she worked over the set limit that social services gave her, she would lose her medical and be without any dental insurance... screwed, like your thinking.

To all those opposed to health care reform and affordable health care..what should we do?

what should we do with working families that do not make enough to afford good preventative health care and dental care? which as we know is even more important than emergency care...for it is good preventative care that reduces major health problems. So the question is ....ok..you are opposed to health care reform, but what would we do with senior citizens who cant afford to pay for all the medicines that they are taking, or a family of six, whose employers do not offer health insurance and the family has to go buy health insurance at $500 per month on a salary of $40,000 per year? or any other endless examples that say clearly that health care and health insurance costs are out of control...I am speaking not of bums who are not working, but working americans who are in a crisis. Plus the bums as you call them..what should happen to them? no health care at all? just let them die off in some street corner?
--------------------
drinking water is a human right. air to breathe is a human right privacy is a human right peace and pursuit of happiness are human rights Affordable good preventative health care is a human right. WE should have a sliding scale similar to this: Any family earning less than $150,000 per year qualifies for a tax credit for any insurance premiums they have to personally pay for, all the way down to families making at least $70,000 per year. Families making less than $70,000 per year get a smaller tax break, but also get a discount of up to 50% of the cost of their insurance. So they would have to go out and get their insurance and the insurance company can bill the fed government for the part the customer did not pay. Families or households making less than $25,000 per year, get free healthcare if they can provide proof of citizenship.

What is a good country to retire in, where older people are given health care?

What country is small and peaceful, has dental and health care for residents and has low rents?
--------------------
I have traveled to many countries and I still think United States of America is by far the best place in the world to live, even for senior citizens. I don't know about healthcare. I would imagine the following countries have socialized medicine. Socialized medicine although seems "free" it is not. It is paid for through taxes. I have heard that some of the following countries have about 50% of income goes towards taxes. The following countries although not all of them small (many are), are relatively peaceful because they don't get too involved in war. Not all of these countries are affordable though, for example Monaco, usually only extremely wealthy people live there. Many countries you don't get a whole lot of "bang for your buck" when it comes to rent. Many countries are short on space so housing is small and tightly packed together. Bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens are VERY tiny. For example, in one country I've been to the average flat (apartment) was about 300 to 600 sq. ft. and this was a flat with a kitchen, one bathroom, living room and two bedrooms. The rooms were so small they were like closets. In America a place that small would probably rent for about $500 a month in the Midwest and be a studio apartment with just one big room instead of divided up into five rooms. It was renting for 1,500 Euros a month which is about $2,200 a month in American money. So although the country may be small and "peaceful" and have socialized medicine, the rent in most other countries is very high because property is at a premium. Not only is space limited in these countries but many of the flats are VERY old, as in hundreds of years old. One flat I looked at dated to the 1600's. The bathrooms and kitchens in these flats just aren't as nice as the ones we have here in America in my opinion. Also many countries have age and income requirements for immigration and you must learn to read, write and speak the language. Many countries their healthcare system only applies to people who have become citizens. Anyway, here are some countries for you to research: Australia Austria Belgium Canada Czech Republic (Prague) Denmark Finland Greenland Iceland Liechtenstein Luxembourg Monaco Netherlands New Zealand Norway Portugal Sweden Switzerland I can think of many others, but these are the ones that would probably fit more of what you are looking for.

--------------------
Trick question. There is no Obama health care plan, and there won't ever be one. All of the current plans working their way through the House and Senate were written by the for profit health care and insurance industries for the further enrichment of the rich and impoverishment of the poor. How can we deduce this? The option of a nationalized, single payer health care system, like every other advanced nation has, never made it to the table to begin with and now it's not even in the same building as the rest of the bill. The wimpier public option was pretty much killed off by President Obama's latest speech on the subject, and the wimpiest, totally pointless, co-op idea is still drawing grumbles from the fascist right. We also seem to be moving closer to mandated health care which would force poor people who couldn't afford health insurance to begin with to buy it anyway or face fines. Who do you think that provision would help? To address your specific dental problems, I'd advise you to expect things to get worse before they get better. Get your root canals done as quick as you can as cheap as you can, then treat your teeth like they were worth more than gold. Soon that may be the truth.

I am seeking funding for extensive dental treatment. Does anyone know of an organization that can help?

I am a 41 year-old otherwise healthy female in need of urgent dental care assistance. I was recently told by my dentist that the cost of repairing my teeth would be about $47.000. This includes five implants and twenty dental units. I am a self-employed single parent. All of the dental plans I have looked into, indicate a cap of around $1000 - $1500 per year. This means that even if I were to obtain dental insurance, it would only cover about 3% of the total cost. I do not qualify for any kind of state or federal aid as I make enough money to live on. However, I cannot make enough to pay for this treatment. Before visiting my current dentist, I paid almost $30.000 to another dentist whose work was so bad almost everything he made broke within a year. I trust my current dentist's diagnosis and treatment plan. I just do not have the money to pay for it. Does anyone know of organizations or individual(s) who could help?
--------------------
Many people are going abroad for extensive dental work. I've heard of Mexico, India and Eastern Europe. For $47,000 you could have a nice vacation, take care of your teeth, AND put money in the bank.

What countries have national dental insurance?

What countries have national dental insurance? I currently live in Canada, we have free health insurance, but not dental. :( I am a 21 year old finishing college and going to university next year, after that I'd live to establish myself in a country with benefits of free health, dental, and vision care. Does anyone recommend any countries?
--------------------
The UK, however, if you live in England and are over 16 and working you have to pay for dental treatment, prescriptions and any services or products from an opticians, so healthcare is not completely free. If you live in Scotland it is free and University is free there as well (but not for international students). What you also have to bare in mind is the reason why healthcare is free, the UK has very high tax and VAT, you should take that into account before you move anywhere.

Hillary Care – Dental Benefit?

I haven't heard the details about the dental aspect of Hillary's socialized health plan, but is this what we have to look forward to with respect to the dental benefits? "Falling numbers of state dentists in England has led to some people taking extreme measures, including extracting their own teeth, according to a new study released Monday. Others have used superglue to stick crowns back on, rather than stumping up for private treatment, said the study. One person spoke of carrying out 14 separate extractions on himself with pliers…" (Source: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20071015/wl_…
--------------------
Well I hope that if you need an extraction and you have to do it your self, that Hillarycare will at least include a link to the Three Stooges video where they pose as dentists and pull teeth. You can learn a lot about do-it-yourself dentistry from the Three Stooges.

Dental implant care, a week or two later?

So about a week ago, maybe a bit longer I had two bottom implants. I know right after surgery its not okay to drink through a straw for the suction, but isn't that reserved for the sutures? In this instance, I don't think I had any sutures, not much bleeding to begin with. So I'm just wondering I'm going to a movie tonight and was wondering if I got a drink if it was okay to drink through the straw or if its best if I hold off until the crowns are in place. Thanks.
--------------------
Suck away...you are fine. In this case you do not need a blood clot to protect the extraction site because there is no chance of dry socket. Have fun at the movies

Brits and Canadians, are dental and eye care?

included in your universal health care plans?
--------------------
For dentistry in the UK, in theory yes, but unless you are in receipt of certain means tested benefits you will still have to pay a proportion of the cost. Also it is nearly impossible to find a NHS dentist with which to register if you are not already registered as few dentists care for the terms of the government contracts. If you turn up at a NHS A&E hospital claiming severe dental problems you will probably be seen by a NHS dentist, although you have to wait for them to be called in. Free eye care provision within the NHS as in normal spectacle or contact lens vision correction is only available to those in receipt of certain means tested benefits, although a history of glaucoma in your family or if you are a child will get you a free vision test. That said, exam charges are not too high and there are choices for glasses etc. from £25 to £500+ For surgical and other interventions, cataract repair, retinal re-attachment and so on, these are fully funded under the NHS, but you may have to wait until you are functionally blind before being placed on the waiting list.

Why don't people understand when you CANNOT afford something, like, oh, dental care?

I cant get to the dentist till May 2010, cause I am broke. I have soooo many tooth problems right now, and even with my "great" insurance its going to be 1000's of dollars. Why do people act like I am being irresponsible by buying my child food rather than taking myself to the dentist, which I cant afford anyway?? I only have 300 dollars a month after bills.
--------------------
The people who judge are the ones who are unhappy with themselves. Everyone has problems and no one is perfect and someone has always at one time or a another been close to having your same problem. There is no point in trying to understand the stupidity in others. Think about this alot of people on yahoo answers really have bad issues with their teeth and no one knows their sistuation and not all bad teeth has to do with not brushing. Before they judge and say oh you didn't brush or you ate too much candy why don't they do research and they'll find out many many other causes of bad teeth. Don't worry everything will work out in the end.

Is this really the dental standard of care?

I have good teeth , so I seldom interact with a dentist. I am also an experienced RN in NY state, so I understand standards of care. My 25 yr old front tooth crowns cracked, so I went to my dentist to have them replaced. He put temporaries on, and after 3 to 4 weeks I returned to have the temps taken off and the new permanent caps put on. In the waiting area was a sign stating to notify office staff if having any flu like symptoms. I happened to have a slight sore throat and headache, so I dutifully reported this when I was called. I expected that my report of sore throat and headache would result in staff donning masks to protect themselves should I indeed be incubating something nasty. I was shocked when my appointment was immediately canceled and I was told I could not reschedule for at least a week! This they said is standard for all patients regardless of Pt. frailty or vigor, age or immune status. I protested that rescheduling would be very difficult with my schedule (their office is only open four days a week) but they stood firm insisting this policy is a dentistry standard. Is automatic rescheduling of symptomatic patients the standard of care? The ADA website linked me to a CDC report on infection control in dental practice, but it was not covered there. Thank You P.S. And yes, I will be switching dentists to one open five days a week -- just as soon as the permanents are finally on.
--------------------
There is no definitive set of "standard of care" guidelines on "how contagious" a patient might be. It is whatever is established by a particular office. Obviously that office is being overly cautious. Any slight chance of introducing harmful microbes into the closed office environment is not good. Working in the mouth, especially when using ultrasonic scalers that spray fine water mists , hi pressure air sprays, highspeed drills, etc can get oral bacteria/viruses airborne. It's not only the direct exposure between you and staff member that's a concern, it's the bigger picture of exposing all patients who even walk in the front door to any possible microbes in this flu season. It's unfortunate about the inconvenience to you, but hopefully you appreciate the extra precautionary concerns and high standards. From the office standpoint, it was a loss of production time too. Some offices bring in obviously sick, coughing, feverish patients just so they don't lose the $$ production. In the future, you as a nurse know what might be deemed a concern, so just use your good professional judgment as to whether to "tell" them or not.

Which country can I go for good yet affordable dental care?

I have had to chew only using one side of my mouth for almost 5 years now bec I can't afford $6,000 to get implants I need on one side. My jaw is starting to shift, gums are getting infected, I hate it. I will spend $3000 to fly anywhere in the world to spend what I need to which will be much less than in the US where dentists are sharks who don't give discounts to the needy. Please help before I lose all my teeth and sanity. I am so underweight cuz it takes me forever to chew on one side and my jaw just hurts and I am actually young, don't want to get dentures.

Is this too much for son's dental care?

Sunday, November 28, 2010

6 cavities (1st dentist only saw 4), dentist wants to crown since they said he shows signs of grinding his teeth at night, all baby teeth $250 each. Also 1 additional cavity, infection has spread to nerve, they don't want to do a root canal, they'd rather pull it and put in a bridge total cost for dentist not including out-patient hospital bill $2742. In my defense my son has autism, he doesn't just sit around and eat candy all day, it's just not the easiest to get in their and brush and floss.

I would strongly encourage you to visit www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com When I was in college I needed alot of dental work but could not afford insurance and needed it ASAP. I did some research and found this plan. I signed up with them online about 3 years ago now. They are very affordable, had my benefits active in 2 hours and saved me literally thousands of dollars without limits or deductibles. Now that I am able to afford insurance, I still this plan when I max out my deductible on my insurance. I know for a fact that all services are included ex: Including cleanings, exams, x-rays ..etc. Check to see if its availible in your area. Good Luck and Hope this Helps.

How Much Would It Cost For My Dogs Dental Care?

My Dogs 5 Years Old And Is A Mixed Chihuahua. Her Breath STINKS. When I Went To Go Take Her To Get Her Vaccinations I Asked The Lady What Was Causing The Bad Breath She Took A Look And Said She Has Gingivitis, And That It Was Important To Take Her To The Vet. My Question Is How Much Would It Cost She Said It Depends Where You Go. Does Anybody Have An Idea Where I Can Take My Dog And It Won't Be That Much Expensive?
--------------------
Gingivitis can cause serious infections in your dogs mouth. At minimum she will need an examination, and her teeth cleaned. She may need tooth extractions as well. Try to have your vet do this, if you go to a dog dentist as I did it will cost you a lot more. Call your local vets and ask the price for the exam and teeth cleaning. It will give you an idea of the starting price. Cleaning your dogs teeth after she eats and rubbing her gums can prevent large expenses in the future.

About tri-care dental?

My husband is active first, is his dental completely covered and the dependents not? or are we all supposed to be completely covered where he is active first and on orders for over 120 days? I know the medical is but not too clear on the dental portion. I know we pay a monthly fee out of his pay check for it.
--------------------
Dental for dependents is separate than that for AD members. AD members go to the clinic on base, dependents go to civilian providers. You have to sign up for it and pay the first amount out of your pocket and then it will be automatically deducted. If he is Active Duty then it starts right away as soon as you sign up for it. You have to find a provider from the website in your area that is accepted and accepts them. You will get 2 free cleanings & 1 free xray per year, then a co-pay on all other work done.

do you think bulimics should get free dental care including implants if nessceesary?

my friend has extremely bad teeth through having bulimia. She is very pretty apart from her teeth. She would need allot of work done to rectify them Im sure. She said she went to her dentist years ago but he told her that they couldnt afford to give her allott of treatment because their governmentt funds are limited per patient. Do you think she should get more help. She is always really not enjoying her life as much as she could because shedoesn'tt like the way she looks.
--------------------
It doesn't matter what I think about free dental help. This isn't a cause for marching. It is something you can help research with your friend. She should investigate to see if there is any free or low cost help. She can contact dentists to see if they have payment plans or reduced prices for need. She can work and save up for any treatment. She can check out clinics at dental schools where you get excellent treatment under the supervision of professors. Just because someone told her something years ago doesn't mean she can't work to find out current information. I hope she is no longer bulimic because that would keep any treatments from lasting, but that is between her and her doctor/dentist/therapist. There is also low cost therapy for this type of problem. You just have to get out there, spend a lot of time looking.

Why can't I get NHS dental care? (UK)?

I've never had a filling and my teeth have always been in good condition. After I had my son I went to the dentist who told me pregnancy gave me a calcium deficiency and would need around 5 fillings. I had to move to Kent which is 5 hours from that dentist so I couldn't just 'pop' back. It has only been 7months since I've had my son but I've been declined NHS help for a dentist. They said I can only go private as they have no room for me apart from a 3year waiting list (which will not be free for me then, plus my teeth are starting to hurt already). I do not have that kind of money and I'm worried sick, does anyone have any advice?
--------------------
They only take a limited number of cases a year and since its so limited, dentist take more private patients, the NHS is also in shambles

I broke one of my front teeth, and I have no dental insurance?

I am barely making ends meet so I don't know how I'll be able to afford another bill. I have always had problems with this tooth. I had braces as a teenager and after they were taken off, this tooth seemed to move back a little and I learned not to chew on that side of my mouth because it hurt to bite down. I was biting into a sandwich today and the bottom of this tooth broke off. Like I said, I used to go to the dentist all the time, it seemed like every time I went they made an excuse to give me another xray or whatever. I cannot afford the costs they will pile on me. If it was any other tooth further back in my mouth I would just get it pulled but I work as a waitress in a nice restaurant and I need to look presentable. I am so frustrated, I can never get ahead. I live in Wisconsin, if anyone knows how I can find cheap or free dental care...

Just spent a lot of $$ on dental care for dogs?

I hate to be suspicious, or bitter, but the vet charges sooooo much money to clean the dog's teeth. $36 for pre-op blood work, anesthesia, surgical fluids $73 !! (it is sterile water with salt in it.!) and of course heartworm test $45, and the heartworm prevention medicine $48, and lets throw in some fluoride $14, oh, ummm hmmm how about some extractions?? lets pull the top front teeth that they dont use and charge $11 each? Course you will need the "pain pack" - that is 4 pills that cost about 20 cents each-- for $55 !! And the antibiotics for the needless extractions, that will be $27) I know they need to make some profit, but does anyone else think the vets are a little crooked?? I ended up spending about $800 on each of my 2 dogs. AT LEAST their breath smells great now!

Baby six month old ... Food and dental care?

I am lost with baby food stuff ... Does she keep drinking formula now that she is starting to eat? How do you do it can you help me figure out a schedule? I mean do I feed her applesauce right when she wakes up? of formula, How many times does she have to eat do I give he sweet baby food or salt food first? Also she has to teeth I read that I need to start brushing them do I use toothpaste for babies? or just water? I am sorry If I sound ignorant I really do feel like one lol Can I feed her applesauce from regular brand or it has to be baby type ? Thanks so much
--------------------
your baby need to drink formula for atleast another 6 months then you can slowly try to give her a cow milk. Most babies at 6 months start solid food, but some start even earlier like age of 4months. She can eat baby food 2 times a day,for example: for lunch give her jar of chicken with carrots, later you can give her jar of friuts or smatch banana and give it to her. Your daughter can eat:apple, pear, banana, peach, orange. and apple souse i prefer if you give her from baby food because regular one has more sugar than special for babies. for cleaning your baby's teeth its eanough just wather, sometimes you can give her ,her own brush and she can bite on so its like also cleaning..

What is wrong with Universal Health & Dental care?

Did you watch the documentary "Sicko"? Many interesting points about why the United States doesn't have it. It all boils down to greed. Make some popcorn, get some drinks, get comfortable, here is the link for the free movie. The movie runs 2 hours. You can pause it, for breaks. http://www.moviesfoundonline.com/sicko.p…
--------------------
Hopefully President Obama can & will make some effective changes here. Even with conventional medical coverage, you are not assured that you will get the care you need. You are told that you need a heart valve replacement. Your surgeon schedules you for the surgery. You have health coverage & have been paying your monthly premiums on a timely basis, each & every month. You then receive a call from the admitting hospital advising you that your insurance company will only cover the surgery, but not the hospital stay, etc. (because of some small little "loophole" that they never tell you about when they enroll you!) Thus, the hospital advises you that you need to pay $6,000 cash up-front (which you do not have), just to be admitted! Total hospital stay is expected to be anywhere from $30-60,000, not including the surgeon's fee, anesthesiologist, etc. Here is the "clincher!" By virtue of a hospital advocacy group, I managed to get him admitted without paying the initial up-front $6,000. Months later, after the surgery he was inundated with collection calls for the hospital bills, anesthesia, etc., (that should have been covered by his insurance). The advocacy group again stepped in & negotiated these (padded) bills to a fraction of what we were being billed. So, yes it indeed is all about greed! And the insurance companies are all about collecting the premiums, receiving their commissions, & finding loopholes to deny coverage! Thank you for the movie link! We will watch it tonight!

Where can my mom get adult dental care on medicaid in southern Illinois?

She lives in Newton, IL (62448) and can't find anyone who will do dentist work on her with medicaid. She lives in a small town and can't find a dentist or eye doctor that accepts medicaid. Where can she find a provider listing? Like I said it's small town and her caseworker is useless, he doesn't know. He's the only caseworker in the town. She has worked her entire life, and is now in the end stages of cancer, and can't work, and isn't old enough to be eligible for medicare, so she is on medicaid. She has very bad teeth and want's to just get them all pulled.
--------------------
The case worker is not doing her job - I might even report her. She should know where to get this info. First - go to the phone directory or call the 1 800 5551212 and ask for the Medicaid hotline for the state of Illinois - and ask for a list of the nearest providers to your town...unfortunately as she lives in a small town - she may have to travel many miles to a big town to get a provider who'll pull her teeth - or for eye care - I'm on Medicaid too and have to travel far on a bus to see my dentist as I'm low income, I used to be a nurse , but can't do that work anymore... best wishes , sorry about your Mom..

What is wrong with Universal Health & Dental care?

Did you watch the documentary "Sicko"? Many interesting points about why the United States doesn't have it. It all boils down to greed. Insurance companies are not benevolent organization; they are in business to make as much money as possible with the least overhead. They are not going to lower what they charge. They will cheat any time they can get a way with it. Make some popcorn, get some drinks, get comfortable, here is the link for the free movie. The movie runs 2 hours. Thanks for the link, I've been wanting to watch this but it's been on the back burner for a while. I think if more people would just stop kidding themselves and do some research on their own they would find that most of what they thought they knew or have been told is a lie. I don't let some one else tell me what to think, or what I know, I check it out myself and ask questions from multiple sources. For those of you that support death to any one that isn't like you or have what you have with the mentality that you are superiour...I hope you lose your job, get sick and become like those you spurn.

Would a national health care plan include dental?

Just wondering....

On the NHS the maximum charge for a complex course of dental treatment is £198. Most courses of treatment cost £16.50 or £45.60. These charges apply from April 1 2009. You still receive free NHS dental treatment if you meet the exemption criteria. How will this mother pay for her children's health care?

Father of 4 children, doing pretty well for himself, making over $70,000 per year abandons homemaker wife and 4 children 10, 8, 5 and 3 years old. She has been a homemaker all throughout the marriage. She has gets a job at making $15,000 per year but does not get health insurance from employer and really cannot afford to buy insurance on her own. Meanwhile her husband has disappeared and is paying no child support. When the 4 children get sick, and when the mother gets sick, or if they want to have preventative routine healthcare and dental care, how will they get medical care....in your vision of how american health care. Before you answer, please take into consideration that the 5 people in question, the mom and the 4 children did nothing wrong, and are actually victims, just like many other americans have not necessarily done anything wrong when their employers lay them off or other calamities occur.
--------------------
I was laid off from my job a few years ago and my wife made about $25,000 at her job. We had 4 children to feed, along with house payments, car payments (so she could get to work and I could go looking for work), and so on. We applied for, and got accepted to, Minnesota's U-Care program (the state's Medicaid program). We also received WIC to buy milk, cheese, cereal, etc. Edit: There are programs available. They are administered by the states, and the mother would need to contact her state's Human Services Department (or whatever it is called in that state) to get information on how to get coverage. And yes, they do cover routine doctor visits, preventive care, and dental. In fact, it was better than the current insurance I now have through my employer.

Loan from capital one for dental care?

So i went to see a dentist the other week about a tooth that was bothering me. He said i need a root canal and tried to do it then and there. I told him i had somewhere to be, I didn't have time at the moment, not to mention i didn't have the money at the moment. So he set me up with a $1200 loan from capital one to pay for it and then i'd pay capital one back at $74.00 a month. Well after talking to a few people, they recommended I get a 2nd opinion before i get a root canal. So i went to see someone else, and that dentist said i absolutely did not need a root canal. Well i completely forgot about the loan with the first dentist, i canceled my appointment with him to get it done. And now i received a bill in the mail from capital one wanting my first payment. Do i still have to pay it even though i never got the root canal??? I plan on calling them tomorrow, but i'm freaking out right now! i can't afford to pay back $1200 that i didn't even end up using!
--------------------
Did you sign up for the loan? If you didn't and they can't prove that you did the dentist committed fraud. Calm down and don't worry about it. If you didn't sign up for the loan then you are not liable for it. If you did then the money is there send it back to them. The interest you should try to get the dentist to pay for it since he messed up.

Free or extremely cheap dental care in NY?

My secondary incisor is rotting from the inside out(from a small chip) it is starting to show on the front and i can only feel about half of it on the inside of my mouth. I know I need to see a dentist but I can not afford insurance or the full price that it would take to fix it. Is there any free clinics or options I have? I am 18 years old recently laid off.
--------------------
Hi RJ, There are lots of people that have been laid-off and are being led to believe that they have no options if they can't afford insurance and are not poor enough to qualify for financial assistance! On the contrary... There is such a thing called nation-wide consumer-driven-healthcare organizations where you can get on a family medical and/or dental plan for as low as $19.95/month for per household. These are great alternatives for people who don't want to pay full retail price on procedures they may need! The great thing about these plans is that you don't have high premiums, no deductibles, no co-pays, NO WAITING periods to be eligible and cosmetic dentistry like teeth whitening and braces are included. An example of the benefits is that for braces and root canals you get around 56% off and that's significant seeing as how the prices for braces run in the thousands, root canals 900s etc. My niece needed braces after her invisalign and looked for a provider in her area and was able to make some phone calls and found a dentist that allowed her to put her part on payments! Go to ameriplan.com and locate a provider link, type in your zip code to see how many docs are in your area. If interested in enrolling email me @ lunahealthchoice@gmail.com and I can answer any questions or set-up a telephone appointment. Good Luck!

Can you get free dental care if you are a student using a private dentist? By filling in a HC2 form & claiming?

Hi was randomly punched in the face with others on bonfire night the police are involved and the case is going to court. Basically now I'm missing a front tooth and I'm wanting to fix it ASAP the hospital said see a dentists i went to an emergency one last night they just put sealant on it which has came off, the problem is i have no dentist and tried getting onto a NHS one there is a long wait, if i use a private dentist will i still be able to claim the costs back as i am a student and how long would i expect to wait for my tooth to be fixed, the emergency dentists said it would be an easy fix. I am very desperate to get this fixed ASAP what is my best options i am in UK-Leeds. And roughly what are the costs?
--------------------
You will only be able to use your HC2 with a NHS dentist. If you go to a private dentist you will be liable for all your costs. The NHS are duty bound to find a NHS dentist and in your area there should somewhere be a dental access centre during the week for advice. Find a good NHS dentist and you should be fine. Many have time set aside at the beginning of the week for emergencies so just ring around and ask. Make sure you take some photographs as you may have a case. Perhaps your parents or someone can help you with the private costs for good cosmetic dentistry and then you can make a claim against the person concerned for the costs. Am I the only one who thinks Dental prosedures are too expensive?

I just got back from my dentist, I need two root canals and two crowns. I have dental insurance but its still going to cost me $1850.00. 2 teeth that much? I know I am lucky to have insurance but still with insurance its too high. This is a good reason American Middle Class never get ahead, we can't afford the heath and dental care.
--------------------
I had a service call to "clean my pipes" when our sewer line was sluggish. The gentleman was here for FIFTEEN MINUTES. I mean, from the time he rang the doorbell until the time he slammed his van door on his way out of the drive was FIFTEEN MINUTES. He took one cap off a pipe and did the plumber's equivalent of opening up a tooth for root canal with a 3 foot snake. That was all it took. He charged $169.00 for this, which was his minimum charge for a service call. Let's say that was all he could make in an hour, because he has to drive from one location to the next. This money is HIS money, as he answers his own phone and handles all of his own business. He has no salaries to pay. As far as I can see it, he had to pay for gas to get to my house and that was his only variable expense involved in the call. His fixed expenses are for his equipment. In my case, he used a snake that is exactly like one I saw at Home Depot for thirty bucks. Depreciate that over a 7 year period....... Nevermind. You understand what I'm saying. Personally, after 8 years of higher education, I'd like to have a net income close to what the man who opened up my sewer pipe makes per hour.

In Need Of Dental Care/No Insurance?

When I was 18 I was diagnosed with Crohns Disease. A good year prior to being correctly diagnosed, the disease had me vomiting on a daily basis, sometimes more than once a day. (my weight went from 305lb to 134lb) After seeing my dentist at the time when I still had insurance, he told me the stomach acids have damaged my teeth and be prepared to lose them eventually. Ever since they have been breaking very easily. I am now 26 and have lost most of them, and most broken down to the gum. I no longer have insurance as of turning 21, and have been trying to get disability without any luck. One of the conditions of Crohns is eating regularly, especially for me now since Crohns flipped my metabolism and it's extremely high now. I'm required to eat 4 full meals a day with healthy snacking in between. With my teeth as damaged as they are, it hurts most of the time and I'm unable to eat most food due to lack of teeth. It is extremely painful most of the time to brush and I get abscesses on a regular basis. I am in dire need of having my remaining teeth extracted and getting dentures. I cannot hold a job due to complications with my Crohns, all the hospital stays each year make that difficult. If anyone has anyway of helping me, I would appreciate it. I've been through every resource I can think for help of over the past year and finally broke down and now begging for help.

How urgent is dental care?

I went to the dentist for the first time in 10 years today. I have several issues that need to be resolved but it is really expensive and I only have money for part of the work. I need two root canals with crowns and a few fillings, as well as the extraction of all four of my wisdom teeth. I am currently not in any pain. I will be eligible for insurance from my work in six months which will help considerably, but I don't want to make a bad situation worse by waiting. Should I wait to get the work done until insurance can cover it or until I can pay for it all?
--------------------
the urgetn are root canal treatment and fillings, crowns over root canal and wisdom teeth extraction can be delayed, six months wont complicate the situation, but roort canal and fillings are urgent

I need dental care really bad, but I just dont have the cash?

People dont understand when I say that Im broke, im literally broke, I pay low-income rent. I only make roughly about $1000 to $900 a month and go to school full-time at night. I' am married with one child, but it wasnt always this way, recently about six months ago I was laid off. I used to be an IT Technician, But with the economy taking a dump, I had no choice other than to settle for what I can get. I do not have insurance, I cannot afford insurance and I cannot afford very much of anything these days. But I and my family desperately need to be seen by a dentist, I dont know what to do, how can I get the help I truly need?
--------------------
It is Medicaid that you need to apply for, the coverage varies in different states, but for children they usually cover everything, and for adults they may cover tooth extractions, if you have a toothache. Also check with your local health department, some offer dental based on your income, Also check local universities, and see if they have a dental program that offers reduced rates. hang in there, things will get better.

Loan for dental care?

--------------------
If you never had the procedure done, then you do not have to pay for it. I would call the dentist first and tell them you are not going to cover the cost of the loan since you did not receive the services. The dentist most likely already collected the $1200 for the loan and you need to have the dentist reimburse that money to you, once you have the money back, you can pay it back to capital one or just make your payments.

Culture influencing healthcare.. more specifically dental care.?

1. Describe the ethnic, cultural, and religious beliefs of your chosen race of ethnic group. Choices include: African Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, Middle Easterners, Asians, Former Soviet Bloc Countries. 2. Identify which values may influence your group's healthcare choices, values could be from their family, culture, or religion. I just need some sort of direction where to go with this. I'm not very familiar with different races/cultures' beliefs so this is difficult for me to find one that could influence their healthcase. Any sort of direction would help!

I just got my teeth cleaned today. I believe your focus should be on financial: does the individual have health/dental insurance or can they fully pay for their dental care.

Neibauer Dental Care?

Anyone living on the east coast go to one of these places? What's your opinion on them? Everytime I go in, they seem very friendly, but are always trying to get me to buy something extra like a whitening or braces, etc. I'd prefer not to have a salesman for a dentist. My most recent trip in, I was told i needed a root canal and now am not sure if it's the truth or they are just trying to get money out me. It was even odder because he wanted to do it right then and there. I told him I couldn't, I had to pick up my daughter and he said "well let me just start it and you can come back in next week and we'll finish it up" I kept telling him no, i can't and he kept pushing. Am now considering going to someone else for a second opinion.

Cheap dental care?

My brother got robbed the other night. He got pistol whipped and 3 of his back teeth are broken. One is just like the bottom the tooth is left. another one half of the tooth is left, the last one is just shattered and is ripping the side of his cheek up. He just started a new job so he doesnt have insurance for another 2 months. He has no money saved up. Does anybody know how much it will be to pull just one tooth or all three. These are all of his back teeth so i heard they cost more. He will do whatevers cheaper so he wont be knocked out. I read some clinics pull teeth for cheaper than dentist. Does anybody know if there is some in the central florida area.
--------------------
So sorry to hear about your brother..that's awful! Definitely look in the phone books and get on line and search for Dental Colleges. I needed some dental work done once and I live in a small town so I just thought of the biggest cities that were closest to me and typed in the name of the city and "+" dental colleges. You should be able to find some that way. They charge very little or nothing depending on the procedure and sometimes the circumstances and they do great work..they are students but they are always supervised by a dentist that has a dental license. My father told me about a place just a few weeks ago that he had gone to and they were very very inexpensive..it's a group of dentists that get together and donate their time snd services. Most of these places dont advertise for obvious reasons because they would be overwhelmed with patients and people already stay overnight there so they can be in the front of the line and get to be seen. I'm not sure how my dad found out about this place but I'm sure if you call around and ask some of the dentist or even doctors and surely if there is one in your area, someone will know about it and where it is. Good luck to yout brother..and hope this helps you some.

free dental care??????

uk only ~~~~~i just had a baby 3 weeks ago and 4 weeks ago my tooth fell out and i was given a false tooth until i can get a crown put in- they dont have any apoints til end of nov as new dentist just opened. i wasnt charged coz i just had baby, however i lost the false tooth and i am now beinjg charged £175 for private fee for replacement. is this correct? is it coz i lost the other 1 or should this one be free also? i get £460 a month maternity pay and cannot afford this so have had no choice not to get another - its my front tooth so has really shattered my confidence.
--------------------
What exactly are you having done? you cannot put a crown on a tooth that has fallen out so do you mean a bridge? If you have a plate with one tooth on it the replacement should be free, ask the dental surgery for a guide to NHS dental charges (which they legally have to have) it should say whether you need to pay or not and you can point this out. Unfortunately, if you lose it it is considered your responsibility. Check it in the booklet though, just so you don't get ripped off. Good luck!

pregnancy: dental care question?

Ok, so the last time i was at the dentist about a year ago the dentist said that i needed to get my fillings changed as some were coming away and i had started to get 2 or 3 really small cavities, she said i would get my hole mouth numbed and she'd do it all there but she said i don't need to get it done as these won't bother me for about another year or 2, so i refused as she was a training dentist, i didn't trust her advice as i'd never had problems with my teeth before and had seen my now retired dentist 4months before who said everything was ok. so now i've started to get sensitive teeth, feels like cavities sometimes, since i'm pregnant i want to get seen to pretty soon but if the trainee dentist was right, i'd need to get numbed up, which i've never had done before BUT can i be numbed with injection whilst being pregnant? Of course i'd rather not be numbed up but if there is cavities and they're bad i'd need to get numbed up. So is it bad for baby or what?
--------------------
The anesthetic is considered fairly safe in pregnancy (about the same dnager as using paracetemol... nicotine in cigarettes is worse). You should wait until your second trimester for your comfort. Your old dentist may not have seen as well, while young dentists may be a little too aggressive. Since fluoride is now used more widely, we've seen a reduction in cavities, however, in some people prone to cavities, we've seen that their cavities are delayed. Where the fillings used to get done be age 13-14, we now see them developing by the mid twenties. I recommend breaking up the fillings in to 2 or more appointments. That way, the dosing of anesthetic is spread out.

Doggie dental care?

My dogs have always had really good teeth (even the vet thinks so) just from chewing on toys. I noticed that the dog that we recently adopted (like 4 or 5 weeks ago) has not so white teeth in back. I'm thinking that this is something that has happened recently because when we took him into the vet, she commented on how good his teeth looked. So if chews aren't working on keeping his teeth clean, then I was planning on brushing his teeth, but I've never had to do this before. Any advice as to how to go about it. He's pretty laid back, but doesn't really like grooming (like being brushed or getting his nails clipped). Also, whats a good way to help him like (at least tolerate with out trying to run away) being brushed? Heres a picture of him! http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj320…
--------------------
What a cutie! I brush my dog's teeth once a week since she was a year old. It was definitely a process at first. I introduced her to the toothbrush and toothpaste first. I let her lick some off of my finger a couple times and then I let her lick it off the brush. After about a week of doing this everyday, she wasnt unsure about the toothbrush anymore, and it was easier to get the job done. She still dislikes it to this day, but she tolerates it. I have two kinds of toothbrush. I have a long one with bristles of different sizes on both ends (great for the back teeth). Then I have a thimble brush with bristles on it that works great for the front teeth. Hope it helps and good luck!

dental care for the disabled?

my father is legally disabled and on medicaid. his teeth are so bad that many have fallen out, leaving the infected roots behind. he currently has a jaw infection because of this. he says medicaid will only cover extractions if oral surgery isn't involved. because the roots are all that's left, it would require surgery and, according to him, would not be covered. he absolutely can't pay to have these roots removed and to get dentures- but a jaw infection like that could kill a person. also, doesn't a person need teeth? no government program will cover dentures? does anyone have any info about this? i want to find a way to help him, but i have no idea where to start.
--------------------
I would suggest you find a dental college in his area, and they will base his fee on his income, and also have the newest technology out there. I even saw a site earlier today called:www.goahead&smile.com and they use special sedation so he wont be fully knocked out, just calm. So start with dental colleges in his area first, and I hope this helped.

dental care on the nhs?

i had 5 teeth out and a denture fitted i have had a lot of problems since and have not been able to keep the denture in till the problem was solved.i have got the dentures in naw and waiting for my gums to shrink so that i can have a proper denture.i paid £198.my dentist has just told me that because i have just had a filling and a clean and need 6 fillings and because i am OUT OF TIME i need to pay a further £46.this can not be right why not under one plan.as anyone else had this problem ?
--------------------
I think this is probably right. It used to be that your payment covered treatment done during a six month period. That first payment was the maximum amount before April 1st. The second one is the new charge rate for the treatment you have now. You should also be prepared for the biggie again when you need new dentures unless the dentist will agree to Reline them first. This is when they take impressions and send off to the lab where they literally reline the plate making it a better fit. However, that means being without your teeth for a few days! If you can afford it, get the new ones and get the old ones relined as a spare.

Dental care while pregnant?

I am currently 4 months pregnant (second trimester) and my back wisdom tooth cracked in half and the gum is just hanging there. This happened earlier today. I am not in any pain. My last dentist visit was right before I got pregnant and I was planning on getting a root canal and a few cavities filled. I was planning on going under anestesia because a previous dentist kept on hitting my nerve and I left there in tears! So I know I can't be put under due to pregnancy... can this wait to be done? I do not want to go thru what I went thru the last time. Is there something I could use in the meantime to get this temporarily corrected?
--------------------
First of all, DO NOT LISTEN TO FLOYD S. He is way off base here. It sounds like the wisdom tooth was necrotic for it to have cracked and you not have any pain. By necrotic, I mean that the nerve was already dead, which was killed by the cavities in your mouth. Second, the reason why you were in tears when you were getting your cavities filled is this: The local anesthesia that doctors use works by dissolving into the nerve and "turning it off." In order for the local anesthetic to get into the nerve, your tissues must be uncharged. When you get an infection (a cavity in this case) the pH of your body changes, causing the local anesthetic to become charged, so it can't get to the nerve to "turn it off." Not being able to see the extent of damage in your mouth (the amount of teeth with cavities, the number of teeth needing to be pulled/root canaled), it is hard to say what you need to do. You really need to meet with a dentist and your physician/OBGYN to decide how bad your situation is, and weigh the risk/benefits to you and your baby vs. amount of work needed. Good luck!

Dental Care For Low Income, Needed BADLY?

My mother has had bad luck with teeth. Currently she has no back teeth and a few of the teeth in the front. Out in 'smile view' on the bottom row and half that on the top. Since she cant eat very well shes lost A LOT of weight and she was already underweight to begin with. On top of that she's very conscious of them and it has been making her very depressed. We can't afford for her to get them all pulled, which they need, and dentures to replace them. Does anyone know of some Heath Aid that can help?

dental care read plz im a little scared?

ok so im gona get braces next week and im a little nervous because i dont know if they will hurt or something because i have asked my cousin wich is the only close person in the family that has braces and since he is always joking around he said he was screaming like hell and that it hurt so much and i dont know plz help 1- will it hurt when they r puttingthem if so how much 2- do they hurt after 3- what color should i get them i want them to be cool colors or color so they kind of match with my mysterious look thanx for best answers
--------------------
I think your cousin is pulling your leg. Braces aren't nearly that painful. 1. I didn't think it was very painful at all when they put them on. 2. Most of the pain did happen afterwards for me, but it's not a sharp or stinging pain, just a dull ache. For a few days after they put them on and after each adjustment it will hurt to chew and you will probably have soreness, but it's definitely not unmanageable. An ibuprofen should be more than enough to take the edge off if you need it. 3. I kind of liked grey or silver myself, because it looks good with my eyes. :) My goth friends who had braces often chose purple, or black and green.

Dental care help or even charity ideas?

I am in need of getting all my upper teeth pulled. I have already been to a dentist in Salem that said it is going to cost 3400 to get everything done. Teeth pulled and dentures. Would it be cheaper to go to the school there to get it done? Being a single mom of 3 its nearly impossable to get 3400 to just spend on my self. I dont have insurance I cant afford it. But My teeth do cause a lot of pain and health problem. I fear if I dont get them fix soon I wont be around much longer for my children. If there is anyways that you can help it would mean the world to me.
--------------------
If you have access to a dental school you would save at least 50%. I would go there. Also call the State Dental Society and they may be able to refer you to a clinic, a dentist, or a charitable organization that do no cost or low cost dental work. Good luck to you.

Dental care in the U.S. Army?

I am currently in the Delayed Entry Program for the Army and I leave in little under a month. I have been in the DEP for almost 6 months now. Since this time, my wisdom teeth have started coming in and started pushing around my other teeth causing some of them to get messed up and mis-placed and such. I am not in any pain, only on rare occasions. I would of got my wisdom teeth pulled but both me and my parents can barely make ends meet so it was out of the question for me at the time. My question is, will this cause any problems for me when I go to basic training? Can I get disqualified or anything because of this? And, once I am in will the Army pull my wisdom teeth? And, I know this is of slight chance but will the Army also fixed my teeth that got messed/moved around by my Wisdom teeth?
--------------------
The Army will pull them for you when you get to you reception at basic. You will see the dentist a few times while there for cleanings, and any other work that you might need. The straighting however, I am not sure about.

Why did I get rejected for Care Credit dental loan?

I have around 500 dollars worth of dental work to do and applied to Care Credit but was rejected. I dont know why. Is it because I have limited credit? (I am 23). Or because I have outstanding student loans (I just graduated and got an extension on the re-payment). My credit score is 617. They suggested I can get a co-signer to increase my chances of being approved. If I use my dad, for example, do you think I will get approved? He has several good credit cards as well as a mortgage so he has a decent credit history. Thank u.
--------------------
Basically, a dental loan is a personal loan, and as such can be either secured (by pledging collateral) or unsecured (without the requirement of collateral). It is granted based upon your credit ranking and your ability to repay the lender. Dental loans are written by banks, credit unions, finance companies, and other lending companies. Many dentists often have a particular financing plan that they obtain for their patients through a specific lender. No matter where you obtain the funding from, being approved is dependent upon whether you are creditworthy and the amount you can be approved for is dependent upon your ability to repay the lender based on your income and the other financial obligations that you currently have.
