What is wrong with Universal Health & Dental care?

Did you watch the documentary "Sicko"? Many interesting points about why the United States doesn't have it. It all boils down to greed. Hopefully President Obama can & will make some effective changes here. Even with conventional medical coverage, you are not assured that you will get the care you need. You are told that you need a heart valve replacement. Your surgeon schedules you for the surgery. You have health coverage & have been paying your monthly premiums on a timely basis, each & every month. You then receive a call from the admitting hospital advising you that your insurance company will only cover the surgery, but not the hospital stay, etc. (because of some small little "loophole" that they never tell you about when they enroll you!) Thus, the hospital advises you that you need to pay $6,000 cash up-front (which you do not have), just to be admitted! Total hospital stay is expected to be anywhere from $30-60,000, not including the surgeon's fee, anesthesiologist, etc. Here is the "clincher!" By virtue of a hospital advocacy group, I managed to get him admitted without paying the initial up-front $6,000. Months later, after the surgery he was inundated with collection calls for the hospital bills, anesthesia, etc., (that should have been covered by his insurance). The advocacy group again stepped in & negotiated these (padded) bills to a fraction of what we were being billed. So, yes it indeed is all about greed! And the insurance companies are all about collecting the premiums, receiving their commissions, & finding loopholes to deny coverage! Thank you for the movie link! We will watch it tonight!
