dental care for the disabled?

Saturday, November 27, 2010

my father is legally disabled and on medicaid. his teeth are so bad that many have fallen out, leaving the infected roots behind. he currently has a jaw infection because of this. he says medicaid will only cover extractions if oral surgery isn't involved. because the roots are all that's left, it would require surgery and, according to him, would not be covered. he absolutely can't pay to have these roots removed and to get dentures- but a jaw infection like that could kill a person. also, doesn't a person need teeth? no government program will cover dentures? does anyone have any info about this? i want to find a way to help him, but i have no idea where to start.

I would suggest you find a dental college in his area, and they will base his fee on his income, and also have the newest technology out there. I even saw a site earlier today called:www.goahead&smile.com and they use special sedation so he wont be fully knocked out, just calm. So start with dental colleges in his area first, and I hope this helped.
