Is $500 for doggy dental care too much?

I'm taking my yorkie in for a dental cleaning at the vet tomorrow. The clinic gave me a quote of $450 - $500+ for the bill, not including any extractions they might have to perform. Frankly, I've got sticker shock. Is this normal or am I being suckered?
