My dad has horrible teeth, absolutely horrible...but it isn't his fault. Growing up he couldn't get the dental care he needs, so even though he brushes his teeth two times a day, it's no surprise his teeth aren't in the best condition. It has gotten to the point where eating is painful for him; a few of his teeth have broken off as well. We found a free clinic called Health for All that provides dental care, but they wouldn't help him because my dad has medicare. Unfortunately, medicare doesn't cover dental, and my dad cannot afford dental care. Is there any other way my dad can find free/affordable dental care?

Yes, your father can apply for Medicaid and that would cover these services but since they know he has Medicare they might not treat him anayway. Look for another clinic that has dental services. If he is over 65 they will ask him if he has Medicare so you might be sunk right there. I would do one of several things ---- Find the public health service and see if they offer dental services; go to a dental school using a student dentist and they charge much less and will take payment arrangements; apply for GE Money Bank Care Credit card which is only for medical and dental work. There just is no way to get any free dental work. These days even Medicaid does not usually cover adults for dental care, so I think he will have to pay by one of these methods. In my state dentists stopped accepting Medicaid 4 years ago for adults. MikeDisp: the Canadian health care plan does not include dental. A.Boales: Dental schools are not free, they are cheaper because they use students with a supervising faculty dentist.
