I watch a handicap 18yrold boy @ $10hr.for3yrs.My hrs. r based onhis brothers work schedule.Is this fair?

I think I should get salary but I don't know how much.His brother calls in sick weekly and I lose on my hours because he is home to care for his brother., so I'm not needed.I tired of this. How should I ask for more money and possibly paid vacation.My job consists of driving to dental appts., court appts.,which I had to stay at.I have also been notified at the last minute that I wasn't needed,therefore losing pay. Please help me handle this problem. I want to keep my job but I know I deserve more.

If you work for an individual, your benefits are limited or none. He may not be in a position to give you anymore. I suggest you ask what you want. you can also quit and look for hospital job or nursing home job. They will give you vacations and benefits.
