I go to the dentist and orthodontist because my teeth aren't perfectly aligned. I go in because I believe that my teeth health needs a better care from a dental work. Obviously, most people know that everyone should go in every 6 months for cleaning. Anyway, I go to the dental office, and every time I go in, I'd get the same comment from the doctor or assistant, "you have too much tartar". Ok. I know that, but what idiot would pay money just to have a doctor says that his or her mouth is very clean, and no work needs to be done at all? It's like, if they want my money, why bother with complaining? If I don't need anything done to my teeth, would I bother going in at all?

well, I'm not in the US but when I go for my yearly cleaning's I usually hear that everything is fine (save for having to have my wisdom's pulled), the cleaning is more to keep things from going bad and to catch problems early. Mind you, it's not terribly expensive for a cleaning with my dentist
