A question for health care reform opponents...why is it that health care reform would cost trillions of $$$?

lets assume the USA wanted to basically upgrade medicare and make it available to all citizens. Lets further assume that all seniors enrollees would pay a monthly premium of $100 a month, and all non senior adult enrollees pay $150 a month and premiums for children are $40 each...and lets further assume that enrollees get basically 90% coverage of anything medically related that they need...from doc visits, to exams, to hospital stay, to surgery, pharmaceuticals, vision, dental etc.... If in addition to the premiums the a 5% health care tax of all gross income earned is deducted from the pay of all working americans to help fund this universal health care plan, why is it that all these premiums and taxes may still not be enough to fund this reform???? or could it be enough???

While I do agree that the human nature is to exploit. I also am of the understanding that any system man made will always be imperfect. With the US, at least the system of improvement has been tried and tested. Therefore in regard to one of the answers, a defeatist mentality never got anyone, anything, any nation anywhere else that where it already was" And where the US is, when it comes to its health care for its citizenry, is too far from where it could and should be... The mentality of Americans need to change that of me me me.. to resemble more of which it was founded on "WE the people." All inclusive... of the common good, etc. It WILL cost money... and if other countries and their citizenry have already implemented, can manage and can afford it, then I see no reason why "the richest country on the face off the earth" cannot. Nothing if free, not even dying... it has to be paid for... humanity has set in place Governments as a means to manage the the general good of blocks of people as such I see no other institution more responsible to manage the health of a nation. If you think the drug and insurance companies have been doing a great job, well I guess they probably have raped you more into submission than you'll ever truly know. They More than any other institution have a direct vested interest and this is, How do we maximize the next quarter of profits over the last quarter? where do you think those quarterly profits come from? A car, A TV, those are privileges. Heath care is a human right. America needs a National Health Insurance which covers all its citizenry, not just those who can afford big TV's and Nice cars.
