Should I go with an HMO for my dental coverage?

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

I just began my first job out of school. For dental coverage we can pick PPO (about $55/month) or HMO (about $14/month). The low cost of the HMO plan is nice, however I am very concerned about the quality of coverage. The options I can pick for my dentist are limited, and no one I know goes to any of these dentists. The price of the PPO is so high that paying out-of-pocket at my former dentist (who I like but is not covered by the HMO plan) would be cheaper. I know HMOs are considered very sub-par care for medical care, but what about for dental care? Should I just pay out-of-pocket at the dentist I have formerly been seeing?

I think HMO dental would only cover in dental when some accident involve the teeth like example if you had vehicle accident and your tooth was involve like get uprooted or deformed. that the only way they cover you. im not really sure about this.
