What can i do AUSTRALIANS HELP!!?

I live in Australia and queensland of all the states. The dental care here is horrible and the prices are ridiculous. Waiting lists are in the years. I know i have a few holes need filling and i also need to know whether my wisdom teeth are there or not due to hereditary issues. Im only 18 but care for my teeth. Is there anything i can do other then go to a private dentist and spend money i simply dont have?Is there free dental care anywhere? Any other fellow aussies out there have problems with out slack dental system?

im aussie & am from sydney, & yes the dental system is the same here, it sux big time! Im in the same boat, my wisdom teeth give me troubles sometimes, but cos of the cost of private dental surgery etc, i've not done anything about it, my teeth are in pretty good nick, but if i ever need to do anything about them, i'll probably just save up & shell out the bikkies when i need to, cos i won't want to wait yonks for anything if my teeth are hurting or something. I dont have health insurance for that reason, that they dont seem to cover anything these days, even tho u pay an arm & a leg for the cover, whats it for?? Our health system is useless, i wonder if its like that in other countries. :-(
