This really is a genuine question. I'm British and have obviously heard about the health care reforms on the horizon in the U.S. I've heard it reported that it could take the form of something similar to our N.H.S... I'm a little puzzled...I pay around £10 per month in National Insurance. National Insurance is worked out as a percentage of pay so the more you earn the more you contribute. I will be taken care of from the cradle to the grave in return. I have had 2 children, had surgery, blood tests, x-rays, MRI scans, vaccines etc My father has had a triple heart bypass and treatment for diabetes My sister was physically disabled (hypophosphotasia) since birth - she had weekly treatment till she died aged 46. My other sister was badly burnt as child and received treatment until she was an adult. All I we EVER have to pay is £7 to collect prescribed drugs, a contribution to sight tests and dental work...and there are many many exemptions to this. Everyone under the age of 16 EVERYTHING is free. If you are a pensioner EVERYTHING is free, If you are on a low income EVERYTHING is free. Contraception is FREE The only real drawback is that you might have to wait. If your condition is life threatening then obviously you don't have to wait! If you don't want to wait then you can take out Private Health Care! IF the U.S Health Care bill does work like our N.H.S, why are so many americans upset?
--------------------
Because it's a Federal Mandate infringing on State rights, and our personal rights. 1. You have to have health insurance by 2014 or face fines. 2. Health insurance and how it's administered is State issue not Federal. 3. This bill could eventually end up using federal dollars for abortions. 4. This bill will force business to provide employees with health insurance options or pay fines. Ok here's the thing this bill has alot of good in it but to mandate that I HAVE to buy a product is wrong and unconstitutional.
