Can this tooth be saved? I lost a crown and not much is under it. I have no health care and single mom funds.

I lost a lower bottom crown from a 20 yr old root canal. What is left of the the tooth underneath doesnt look like enough for a replacement to adhere to. There is half of the hollow tooth more of a wall between the next back tooth, and it is soft in the middle, but no pain. I rinse and brush and don't chew on but , there is no way I can pay for dental work. I am a single mom and 1 of my young adult kids needs a root canal and I can't help her anytime soon. I don't know where to start. I am seriously freaked out because short of taking up the worlds oldest profession there is no way I can come up with money for implants. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Check with the jobs and family services or whatever it's called in your area. being a single mom, if you don't have a large income you're probably eligible for some financial help(no shame in it!) There may be a free clinic in your area. You already know that these things will only get worse. I also have a broken off crown with not enough to repair. I will have to have my gums cut to pull the roots. my income is slightly over the limit to get any help.As a single mom you might get some help.Or you might find a dentist that would accept payments. I doubt it though.I hope you find a solution.
