How to become a dentist?

I am at a point in my life where I am 30yrs old and need a career change, I work with social services. I would like to train to become a dental technician. I think I need a BDS for this and understand that I could study this at Glasgow uni. Can anyone shine some more light on the subject for me? Qualifications are - HNC Social Care, HNC Sales and Marketing, Level 4 Diploma Counselling and Psychotherapy. Thanks Guys
