I'm thinking of going to school to be a nurse or dental hygienist but Im really stuck between the two..I love taking care of others but I know that nurses are on their feet all day & work crazy hours. If there are any nurses or dental hygienists out there can you please tell me how you like your job & if your regret your decision
--------------------
I am a nurse so obviously I am a little biased. But nursing has so many more opportunities than dental hygiene. When you do dental hygiene, all you can do is dental hygiene. When you're a nurse, there are dozens of specialty areas you could work in, types of facilities, and just the number of available jobs in general is more favorable. I work in high risk obstetrics / labor & delivery, and I am far from on my feet all day (although there are some busier days than others). All jobs have some degree of stress but it's nothing I can't handle. I find a real purpose and meaning in the work I do and feel a spiritual connection to my profession. I feel good about making a real difference in others' lives. I don't think that personally I would feel the same way about looking at people's teeth all day. But that's just me. You have to find the right fit for your personality. Ask yourself what about these two careers appeals to you specifically. Good luck with your decision.
