I have brittle bone problem and am having a problem with my teeth. I have 6 teeth that need crowns/root canals and the bill will be $8,755.00 I make minimum wage with 3 children in day care. My husband lost his job last January and is now working for minimum wage, but does get some overtime. Our finances are stretched to the limit and I don't know where to turn.

Contrary to popular belief, having work done at a dental school is not free. It will be lower cost, but I would expect to pay around $3000 for the work you describe. It will also take about two years to get your work completed. Dental schools are notorious for being a good place to go if you have little money and plenty of time. Expect 3 hour appointments every week. 3 appointments to get one root canal done and three more for one crown. If you can be away from your job long enough for this, then try it. Otherwise I would check with your local health clinic. Some larger cities have dentists that donate their time and complete work on a sliding pay scale based on your income. Be aware that there is probably a year waiting list to get into these programs as well. Best of luck to you. You can also elect to have these teeth removed at a much smaller cost.
