Has any Veterans had their teeth damaged by Veteran's Dental Care?

Thursday, November 25, 2010

I went in for a small cavity and came out with very badly damaged teeth. My dentist Dr. Quinn from White City Rehabilitation was supposed to fill a small cavity and ended up badly damaging my teeth. There is a huge gap and sharp edge where the cavity was which is minor but another V.A. dentist said it was very badly done. Also the big damage was done to my front teeth. I asked Dr. Quinn to "smooth" the slightly sharp edges on my front teeth and he drilled my front teeth down and but bonding material on them but didn't do it right and the bonding broke off along with parts of my front teeth. He also slipped with the drill and scratched my front tooth which he didn't fix until I pointed it out. The assistant even denied that Dr. Quinn slipped and made the scratch which was deep and ugly but not as ugly as what he did to try and fix it. He put more bonding on my tooth and tried to buff it out smooth but its rough and catches and shows stains from tea / wine etc... My nephews ask why my teeth are so ugly. I can only say that's because I have government health care. It's very bad. Dr. Quinn is apathetic and incompetent. I regret going to my government for help for anything but I don't regret serving the people of this country. After this happened I had a filling fall out and was too afraid to go back to the V.A. for help so I ended up cracking the tooth and was in so much pain for a few months I had to go in and have it pulled. I would have been O.K. if I hadn't gone to the V.A. I really wish I had stayed away from the V.A. I also had some cysts in my chest removed and while the surgeon did a good job he was restricted from using some dissoluble paper between my chest muscle and chest skin because it cost too much ($1000) and now my skin sticks to my chest muscle when ever I use it. It also hurts sometimes because the skin is connected to the muscle. The paper would have let the skin and muscle heal separately. I was better off with the non cancerous cysts in my chest. I cringe and get sick every time I have to go there for any reason. I did have a good doctor once but they gave him the job of being in charge of the whole hospital. I can say that if I go there for Poison Oak medicine or Ibuprofen nothing bad has happened so far but that's because no doctor/nurse touches me.

The VA is extremely reluctant to provide dental services.
