My 2 1/2 y/o is being put to sleep for dental work...very nervous!?

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

My little girl is going to be put under for dental work in a week and I'm really nervous for my baby. She is getting white caps on her 4 front teeth and 2 crowns in the back. I have instructions not to feed her after midnight, I just want to know what to expect the day of surgery. Will I be in the room the whole time with my baby, will she be confused and upset when she wakes up, will her mouth hurt, will she get sick, how long does it normally take?? For those that what to say I shoud I have brushed my kids teeth better can save it. I did take excellent care of my little ones teeth before she even had teeth, she has weak enamal on her teeth. I'd like to hear what other parents or doctors experience is with this procedure. It's a medicaid dentist office so its kind of hard to get personlized care and get all your questions answered. Thanks!!

It's normal to be a little nervous, this is your little girl afterall. She'll be fine, I don't know if you'll be allowed in during the actual work but it'll be over before you know it. She will be a little groggy after and she'll probably have to wait to eat for a couple of hours. She shouldn't really have much discomfort. Some people do get naseauted after but it depends on the individual. If she does it won't be for long.
