The road back to dental health?

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

Two years ago, I got my upper mouth all crowns and a 3tooth bridge in the front. I do go for regular check-ups/cleanings, every 6 months. But was referred to a periodontist, because of some bone loss, and gum loss. I have really sucked lately at keeping up brushing, and I never floss any more. Today, I got serious and bought a new brush, floss, a floss threader for my crowns( it's really hard to floss them), and also bought those tiny floss brushes, too. Oh, and I bought the original Listerine.( iknow, I am punishing myself). I brushed and bled like hell. Can I still try to floss with the tiny brush things, or regular threaded floss, or wait? I burshed twice and did the Listerine 2x, and used the tiny bush to floss my bottom teeth. They are not bleeding much at all, it's all the uppers, and it scares me cos they are all crowned and are soo darn hard to floss. This is why I thought I would try the tiny brush flossers, or whatever they are called. But I cannot stick em all the way through, is that ok? I can stick them all the way through on my bottom real teeth. I need a daily routine, can anyone help me out? I am soon to get a scailing and smoothing, and dread it, I am soo stupid to have stopped brishing for a while. I just get disouraged mostly about taking care of these crowns. They're beautiful, Ilove em, I just have a hard time flossing and I just stop everything.

If they are proxy brushes then they are fine. If you can get them through then that is ok. I mean don't force it. Anything to get stimulation between your teeth is what you want. If it is bleeding it mean the gums are sick and the more you do it the better. They should start to not bleed. Bridges, crowns, fillings are only going to last as long as you take care of them and the teeth they are around. Good luck!
