I am in my late 20's and had 2 children 18mths apart, which plays havic on your teeth, and I've ground my teeth in my sleep all my life. In the last 2 years I've had a couple of teeth pulled and 4mths ago one fell out! I need major dental work and i'm not covered by private medical, I have had several people tell me to see a doctor, and they could give a certificate/referral to a dentist and they could cover it with Medicare. Is this true and are there any special circumstances?

Obviously these fools are not from Australia and don't understand your question. You friends are correct - kind of. Medicare was offering a service through a referral from your GP for a limited number of free services. You have to have a chronic condition - which it sounds like you have. But this service will end on the 30th March this year. If you can get your local GP to give you a referral this week (alot wont do it). Then you will still be eligible. Please check out the link and read the information - you will have to scroll down a little. Hope this helps! http://www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/prov
PS. And for all you peeps out there not from Australia - we don't get "free medical/dental" included in our employment here! So count yourselves extremely lucky!
