I have pretty bad teeth, they have been this way for awhile and only now have I been able to afford dental care. I went to the dentist about 2 weeks ago he gave me antibiotics beforehand. I took those for a week as an xray showed i had an infection. he pulled one tooth that was already broken off. That went fine and he told me to come back in a week for fillings. I came back and he was preparing to do the filings. He gave me an injection near my bottom front tooth and it didn't numb it so he gave me another one. After two injections my tooth was still not numb. He then put a little xray thing in my mouth and took an xray and told me I had another infection and that is why my tooth was not getting numb. He prescribed me another weeks worth of antibiotics. Since then my tooth has been in severe pain. It was hurting before but now its extreme. I feel it in my tongue, jaw, and even saliva glands it seems. Like a shooting throbbing pain. The dentist did not prescribe me any pain pills and at the moment I am taking mild over the counter pills but it doesnt touch it. My question is, should I go back to the dentist and tell him what's going on with the pain not only in my tooth but jaw, tongue, and glands? I am suppose to see him a week after my antibiotics treatment finishes but was wondering if there is something more serious going on? I'm just scared to be honest. Please no rude comments or answers. Thank you in advance.

Call the dentist and get back in to see him. The antibiotic he prescribed may not be working as well this time around. He may choose to prescribe another and can prescribe a pain med as well. If the tooth ache is that bad, an over-the-counter pain med is not going to be effective. A severe tooth ache can make your entire head hurt and the infection can spread so get back in, don't wait another week. Edit...though ice and salt water MAY temporarily give you some relief, I would forget the "home remedies,' and get back into the dentist immediately. If it has abscessed the dentist will drain it (giving some immediate relief,) and follow up with more antibiotics and a pain reliever. There ARE effective treatments and you do not have to go through an extraction with no anesthetic. In other words, you don't have to sit it out at home and "learn your lesson," as another poster has suggested.
