University insurance plans and prior military students?

Sunday, January 9, 2011

I served in the Air Force for one term before deciding to go to college full-time. Im not currently employed and the only health care i receive is from the VA hospital but im not a disabled veteran so it doesn't include any kind of dental coverage. There seems to be an option through my university to purchase a insurance plan with them. Should i do this and if so how does this conflict with care received at the VA hospital?

If your VA coverage includes all possible medical needs and you can obtain it conveniently, you should not need to purchase medical coverage through the university. If the university's dental coverage option costs more than two hundred dollars for twelve months, it is probably not a good option for someone under thirty years old who has no dental problems and needs only regular exams and cleanings.
